Answer
No reason why not but you will not earn extremely much from it.....! i did it for years and it was worthwhile when computers cost lots i.e in 1994 when i started they were often thousands of £ to buy - so then people would pay for repaires but theses days no one wants to pay for a repair or to reinstall or put right software people tend to prefer to pay the £300 or so it will cost for a brand new and up to date machine than pay you the £50 to £100 often even more it will cost for your time to make it worth it for you to do the repair - it can be extremely time consuming to uninstal and reinstall or fix without reinstalling a software or driver issue - and no one wants to pay for the hours it might take you even at a low hourly rate and especially if you have to get hardware for it. if hardware is faulty then just one component will push what you have to charge beyond what theses days many are prepared to pay. also to fix computors that are in manufacters warrenty you need a comptia a+® certification which is expensive to get but otherwise you can invalidate your customers warrenty - so if you do not ahve this do not touch pcs in warrenty there is no rule that says you can not run such a business from home - yes if you do it properly you do have to register with the tax man, have health and safely procedures and equipment, calculate how much of your rates etc should be business rates i.e for a room in your house, plus manyother things so its complicated if you do it properly/leagally eventually i did a nvq4 in business so i understood it - my nvq course was free, many are offered free to small businesses if you contact your local small bussiness support center. but i started out extremely small just advertising locally on a no fix no fee basis - just repairing one or two a week .. but i never made a fortune out of it - just pin money . and now computers are a throw away item for many. you could start like i did and see if you make enough to help pay for your mcse as eextremely little helps if you have the time? i gave up repairs to do freelance web design from home
