Why are there only 12 notes in western music?
I had a workshop at college recently about indian music and they go between a semi-tone gap in their music theory(e.g. f half sharp etc). anybody else think that reserving ourselves to the notes of a keyboard is a bit unfair? or am i reading a bit far into it?thanks
Answer
These are the only tones made audible by instruments such as the traditional piano, violin, ect. after the 12 notes, the same pitches repeat.
