Ive just got doom 3 from a car boot sale for my lap top, it just about meets all the specs on the back of the box but when jogging runs a little slow and is only playable when the graphics are turned right down so the charactors look a little boxey unlike the graphics on the box. ive got a intel extreme graphics 2 64 meg vga, i know ive got a 512 mb ram card and the game requires 384 mb, the processer is on the limit at 1.5 ghz so i think this should be ok. ive only limited knowledge about computers so any simple term advice would be great! many thanks.

You have picked a game which requires a nice graphic card to run well allthough you meet the processor and ram specifications,your on-board "intel extreme graphics"are not nice enough as you said,you can run the game,but it is slow,well that is because the graphics on your laptop are designed for basic use,such as veiwing photos and dvds even if you updated the graphic drivers ,you would,nt see a difference,all i can recommend is in doom3 options ,go to graphic setup in system and apart from quality which you have done ,try all the other settings and turn them off or set them to low im afraid thats all you can do,as laptops are not designed for gaming,another thing you should check is that you have direct 9.0c installed,this is a driver that is avalible from microsoft used for gaming,you can get it from http://www.microsoft.com/windows/directx/default.mspx,this can make a difference ,if you havent got it ,as xp is only set at direct x 8.0 by default nice luck
