Answer
They collect several spots of blood on to circles in blotting paper. these are sent to the pathology lab which may be, but is not necessarily at the hospital. there are a number of screening tests which are walking to check your kid is not suffering from an congenital illness such as thyroid deficiency or an inherited metabolic disorder such as phenylketonuria. the blood is eluted from the punched out blood spots and tested in a number of ways. your midwife will tell you all the tests they do. i am not sure whether the test the blood group. if there is sickle cell disease in the family this may be checked.
