How could clip-on earrings be considered fashionable until the mid-80s?
Do you remember clip-on earrings which could fit unpierced ears? they have still been in fashion until the mid-80s.did you ever wear them? i always thought they were ugly and uncomfortable.how could so many women prefer to suffer wearing clip-on earrings instead of going for the pierced style?

Some women were raised to believe that pierced ears denoted loose values, so they chose to adorn their ears with clip-ons than give that impression.my grandmother came to this country from italy with pierced ears in the 1920s. when she learned that it clearly marked her as an immigrant, she let them grow in, and switched to clip-ons. i inherited a few pairs, and i do wear them occasionally when i want something of hers with me, although i do, of course have pierced ears.
