The current year 10s are doing their science gcse following the "new" course...?

Whats the difference between the aqa and edxel versions? when i went on bitesize the aqa had fewer sub topics under each of the three divisions in science (biology, chemistry, physics) than edxel. is there a particular difference ei; more able students vs less able students or is it a school preferance. also which one is considered better? thanx
