Im going to uni and ive applied for the student maintainance grant, but this is going to help me with my travel, and was wondering if somebody knows if the council can help me pay for my fees- £3070, my brother says when he went to uni a few years ago the council helped him pay, and he says they shouold help you because my mums a lone parent and shes on low income below 1200 lets say. can somebody help me out here, spoke to student offices and local education authourites they dont seem to be giving me a straight answer. thanks..

Yes, i think you would be entitles to the full grant,as your mother is a lone parent and gets low income. student finance is income assesses, so once you fill in the pr1 form you should get the full amount of money.your local education authority should be able to tell you if they can help with your fees.
