Car stereo speakers?

I have an l reg rover 214 with the stereo that i think came with the car when it was new. one of the speakers in the back is rattley and tinny, even when the radio is on low volume. would it be easy to fix and if so how do i do it?
Answer
The speaker is definitely blown. make sure that the new one that you buy is the same size as the old one, unless you want to cut bigger holes in the door trim, assuming that the speaker will not foul the internal door mechanisms. to replace it you need to prise off the plastic mesh cover with a wide screwdriver. then remove the retaining screws (most cars use either 4 or 6) from the outer perimeter of the speaker. lift the speaker away from the door trim panel. remove the two wires (on spade terminals) from the back of the speaker, they should be different sizes so refitting them to the new speaker will be easy. get the new speaker and plug in the wires. carefully put the speaker into the trim panel, lining up the mounting holes with the old ones. if the holes do not line up then you will need to drill new ones and put the retining clips over them (just like the old ones). once aligned refit the screws. press the new speaker cover firmly over the speaker until it snaps into place. job done.
