How does a complaint to the environmental health (food standards)work?

I recently bought a pack of bolognese meatballs at a large supermarket chain. they were prepared in store, as there was a sticker on the pack to confirm this. when i got them home i noticed a snail lodged in one of the meatballs! i contacted the store and asked to speak to a blokeager, none available, so i left my number but no-one called. the upshoot is i contacted environmental health, and they have taken the meatballs away. incidentally, i will never eat processed meats again...
Answer
They will test the food and get back to you with results you can always keep pestering them.. you should of frozen a sample yourself or k a photo. mean while i would find out the head office address of the store you bought it from and write a furious letter.
