I went to halfords and tried the stereos that have usb ports available and none of them read my player. i put this down to the fact that they must read flash memory players. does someone know of any car stereos that are compatible with the vision? or could it have been down to older firmware on my player? also are the "made for ipod" stereos compatible? i had a transmitter up to a week ago and the headphone plug went funny so i dont wanna buy another one only to have to replace it again

Your best bet, is to buy a headunit with a built in audio port. this takes a cable from the headphone socket to an identical socket on the front of the radio. the other alternative is a unit such as a kenwood, with din audio input sockets on the rear. you then purchase a headphone to din cable from hmv or pc world to complete the deal.
