My car garage has said the problem with my car could be the alternator belt tensioner?
How much will it cost to get fixed?

Not much depends on what make alternator is held on with 3 bolts usually 13mm top nut needs to be slackened along with one of the bottom ones put a large screwdriver in at top and retension belt tighten nuts whilst still holding pressure on screwdriver put finger on belt push down it should give about 10mm if ok close bonnet wash hands and have cup of tea total time 15 mins cost £0
