Be the alpha. that means you are in charge of him/her. you tell it how to live. you provide the right food, you provide the right kind/amount of exercise, you provide training. you take it to the vet regularly and whenever something strange crops up. you give it heartworm preventative, and you give it discipline when it behaves incorrectly. during all of that, you give it love. it will love you back unconditionally.
