The medical model says that "health" is the absence of illness.i have not heard of a definition of the social model, but i would suspect that it has something to do with developing and maintaining positive relationships.my definition would be along the lines of, "the optimal functioning and integration of physical, mental, and social systems." that definition goes beyond merely not being sick.
