Certain lenders offer 15 years fixed rate mortages as from today. i thought i would share this information because with the interest rates have risen three times in six months.i think it will help so blokey people to get on the property ladder knowing that they will be able to afford their monthly repayments.what do you think?
Answer
How can somebody wanna tie themselves to one product for 15 years ? how can you assume that you are going to remain where you are, with the same marital status, earning a similar amount of money, you may wanna release equity...so blokey reasons why i wouldnt. and the release fee would be a few grand i would not have to spend.my first mortgage was a 7 year tie in, and all through the interest rate kept dropping, pulled out after 4 years, and nearly halved my payments by shopping around.then 18 months ago, while the interest rates were low i tied in again for another 3 years. thats long . i am ready to move house now, but i only have 18 more months to go before i have no penalties - i can wait that long.looking back over the last 10 - 15 years the rates are changing continually, and if they are high now, given a few years, they wont be. and with tie ins, the shorter the tie in, the better the interest rate.when i move house i intend to increase my mortgage considerably but still only tie in for 2 - 3 years. i want some security of monthly payments, but not for 15 years. and by shopping around there are always deals where the product fee is waivered, or they sort out the solicitors...etc
