My vcr plays back o.k. on my new t.v. using the scart connections but it will not record signals from the satellite decoder although it used to the last time i used it 2 years ago - is this because now are all signals digital or am i missing something ?

If the input to your vcr is via scart then it should record whatever signal is being passed to it.
