What should i do to prepare myself for a career in video game design?
I am into my second year at itt for a video game design degree. i live in the central midwest and figure i will have to move to either the coasts or out of the country to find a place to live with multiple game development companies nearby. i am not nice at programming and talented as an artist. i like to video edit and picture edit, i also enjoy planning out a game based on story, concept, and content so i believe a job in game design would be best. i am decent with 3d max but other than that, i have not yet developed any other major industry programs. my real question is, can i find a job as a game designer, or will i have to work my way up from programmer/artist/ect to become one, or could i possibly start out as a designer? if somebody has actual background, i would love to hear any of there examples or stories.

Check out http://www.gamecareers.com.authats the most asked question, "can i be a game designer right off the bat?"the answer is yes, like any job. it is not what you know, but who you know. another thing is it is difficult to become a game designer off the bat. usually most developers like to see experience, however some companies take on junior game designers. if you have the determination and confidence a company might take a risk.your best bet however is to enter in as a programmer and prove yourself. a little hard work is all it needs ;)if you want more answers go to that website and post on the forum, one of the experts on the site can help you out.konvict
