Something has happened to my mac laptop and when i try ti open any files that end with .dmg a message comes up saying " the following disk image failed to mount due to a broken pipe" any help would be nice

A broken pipe is unix-speak for a series of programs that pass info from one to another, had one program die! it could mean mean the dmg is damaged or diskimagemounter.app is damaged or one of those unix programs is damaged/missing. try to open the dmg file with disk utility,app instead!
