Can i use my laptop in brasil., i have a toshiba satellite 1800 and use bt broadband here in uk.?

I have no wireless use with my laptop, however the hotels have connections for the internet.will i need additional gear?, cables etc...need to know more ask.

I k my laptop to rio and i was able to connect to the internet through ethernet port. computing is the same ewhere even in war torn countries like iraq.possibly i would consider bringing a ethernet cable.
