Is adsl as nice as dsl?

I ussually use telewest but im moving to an area where i cant get telewest or any cable internet. in the past i have not used adsl as i heard it wasnt as nice. what is a nice adsl provider to use and what kind of bandwidth do you get? and what kind of upstream can i expect?

Adsl is just a sub-category of dsl.adsl has greater download speeds than upload speeds so is nice for a home user.businesses and power users may want sdsl (i know i do) which has identical upload and download speeds.
