Can anyone tell me if it is possible to have broadband internet access without having a fixed bt landline?

I do not want b.t. but still want to use the internet.can somebody recommend an internet provider if it possible.

I dont have a fixed bt line i am on ntl/virgin for my phone and i have broadband though them as well it did not take long for the engineer to fit it all he did all the wiring from the connection point outside to the computer
