I have a sony hard drive recorder on my tv. all recordings, dvds and tv signal go through this, my digital tuner is incorporated in the recorder.i want to transmit the output to my pc in another room. (i am not very technical so a plug n play solution is best.)

I would suspect that the most elegant solution would involve the use of a slingbox, http://www.slingbox.com/ - this is a tv streaming device that lets you view video signals on a networked computer.
