Customer service/cashier role in bank? career prospects?

I am currently in the process of applying for a job in a branch of hbos. it is a customer advisor role, which is similar to my part-time job just now, but better paid.i am applying for full-time work, and i am interested in perhaps working my way up within the job.what kind of prospects are there for me? will this open many doors within the bank? i also undertand that the company will support me in gaining qualifications relevant to a particular role that i might undertake? what might these qualifications be, and what will they entitle me to do? e.g. do you need a qualification to become a mortgage advisor?after my exams in jan, i will have a pass degree in accounting/business law.however, without the honors, i cannot get into a graduate training program. my marks were not good to proceed to honors, plus the fact that i actually hate my course.

I worked as a cashier in a bank for a while (yorkshire bank), i must warn you in case you are not already aware that there is a lot of sales pressure involved, which is the reason i left - i didnt feel comfortable pressure selling debt to people.i can confirm though that you will be encouraged up the career ladder (if you meet sales targets) and they will provide training and qualifications for you to become a specialist such as a mortgage advisor. there were people at the branch where i worked in supervisory positions within 1 yr.
