Can i cash a cheque made out in us dollars in a british bank?

I have an account with a uk bank, and have done some translation for an overseas company- would there be any problems in accepting a cheque in us dollars?
Answer
Yes you can. i received a cheque for $200 from the usa and was able to cash it at my bank, but they did charge me to convert it to uk sterling.
