I know what speed i am getting now but how do i check the highest speed my line is capable of if i switch to a different supplier? if i purchase 24 meg download and 1.3 upload what will i actually recieve?

Lemme correct you, its usually upto 24 meg which is how these isp companies get away with it. it works on a technology called dsl max where the dsl signals are forced thro the line depending upon the quality and length of tel line from the exchange. so if ur on that type of connection already, u may get the same speed ur getting, call ur current provider and check if ur on a capt bb line or is it a dsl max, if it is dsl max ull get the same speed, unless u decide to go for cable broadband. try this website to confirm wat u can get. if ur from uk http://www.samknows.com/broadband/checker2.php i hope this was useful
