What are the advantages of a dsl broadband connection over adsl?
With adsl you may not get your allocated full bandwidth as this depends on how many users in your area use the same service and with dsl that is not the case.
is that a true statement? are there any other advantages of dsl over adsl?

Dsl stands for digital subscriber line, and adsl stands for asymmetric digital subscriber line. adsl is a type of dsl, so there is no advantage. it would be like asking "is there an advantage of explorer over ford?" other types of dsl are idsl and sdsl.
