They are
not really switching off the analog signal, the government is simply giving the analog signals back to radio, broadcasters are simply no longer going to be broadcasting via analog.
in reality there are several options to a new tv:
1. digital tuner
2. satellite tv (digital tuner built in)
3. digital cable (box has digital tuner built in)
