A freeview digibox is just a digital decoder and after install and setup ( tuning in to all channels it can find) you can watch bbc 3, itv 2 etc just like standard analog tv no extra charges.
you will find some channels ie uk gold, disco
etc are whats know as encypted these require a top tv box and card which do charge monthly fees.
if you have a sky digibox you will need a sky card to decypt all the pay per view channels ie sky one, uk gold etc. this you will have to pay monthly for, price depending on package.
