I am doing gcse science, following the aqa course. it involves doing a practical - we have been told it is after our easter holiday. we have also been told it is biology-based, but i cannot think of many biology-based experiments? i was thinking of insulation and adaptation for animals - but i think we have alreay done that experiment - unless it will be the same. it last 3 lessons. the first one, we get the method sheet and have to design a results table. the 2nd we have to carry out the experiment and the 3rd we have to do a mini exam to see if we understood what we did. can you give some ideas of what a biology practical could be? thank youyes, i admit - sorry about the spelling, i am fast at typing, but then effective!

Ok a easy experiment is habituation. put some woodlice in a tank and tap on the bottom. they should freeze as they think its a predator or something dangerous. mark this behaviour. then tap at regular intervals and measure the reactions (i.e. e 30 secs/e 2min etc) as they become habituated to the tapping, they realise there is no danger and keep moving. you can then come back to the tank after a certain length of time (say 45 mins) and tap again to see if they "remember" there is no danger attached to the tapping. see... easy!
