I purchased my house in october 07, as a 50% share, due to the water pressure being very low we contacted untied utilities on several occasions they have since sent out a plumber who says that the water is unfit to drink, and that i will have to replace the water pipes on my property, is there any grants or help etc that i can get , as the water company will not help me or advise me of these and tell me this has to be done by me.

If the affected pipe is on the property side of the stop tap, unfortunately it is your responsibility.
