Replacing laptop keyboard/keys?

I spilled some water on the left side of my laptop today and the shift and caps lock key keeps going on and off. so i brilliantly decided to blast my hairdryer on it, unfortunately melting some of the nearby keys as well in the process. i was wondering what would be the best solution to this? if i just buy an external laptop will it override it? or do i have to replace the itnernal keyboard? am i better off sending it off to repairs to sort the problem out? i have foudn a replacement and its at £55 for my model. is it guaranteed tho that replacing the kb will do the trick and that the water hasnt gone internally as well and damage where the key is supposed to hit?
Answer
Depending on if your computer is still under warranty, you might want to check with your manufacturer first. although changing your own keyboard is usually not expensive, it might forfeit your warranty given that you tame your own laptop. in the case of the laptop still under warranty, ask the customer care how much it costs to replace the keyboard, and if changing yourself will forfeit the warrenty. if it is more than us$20, you might want to change yourself, while balancing the boons of saving $$ and banes of not having warranty anymore. try websearch for your computer serial and "keyboard", you will get a sense of how much it costs to do it yourself.finally, it might be difficult to change your own keyboard, depending on how handy your are and what laptop you are using. nice luck.
