I have a toshiba satellite pro 3000 x4 and the screen has gone, will any other tosiba screens fit?

What does screen is gone mean? wont light up? if so ,it could be a bad inverter, which is cheaper, and easier to change than a whole screen. ebay has these , at new and used prices.if the screen is broken, it could get $$.
