Im expecting my first baby, me and my partner are working full time, how to tax credits work and what, if any, do i get? also if i decided not to come back to work straight away will i be intitled to any benifits? as we cant live on my partners wage alone but i dont want to pay anyone else to bring up my baby. thanks if anyone has anything helpfull to say then thanks much.

If you decide to stay home full time and your partner continues wroking then you will get:1. child benefit 17.50 per week.2. child tax credits 43.00 per week3. child tax credit top up for children under one: 11.00 a week approx4. working tax credits 73.00 per week,this is what i get anyway, if your partner has a high paid job then you will get less or no benefit.
