The 802.11 b/g wireless card allows the laptop to connect wirelessly to a router, that must be connected to an adsl telephone line (which you may need to have changed if you have previously been on dial up) call your phone service provider and it means them flicking a switch (but you do get internet bill as well. most internet providers should give you one free.
