I am after a vacation in egypt which is not a strict tour of the ancient sites only thing, i want a bit of variety and fun and we dont like being restricted to a strict rush through ething timetable...what companies would you recommend?

You go to a travel agent in your area and they relay the services to another local travel agent in egypt. i recommend at least one day in cairo for the museum and the pyramids, then 4 days cruise in the nile between luxor and aswan. then the red sea, sharm el sheikh or hurghada. sharm is really nice .
