my mother uses her laptop for msn and yahoo messanger, nothing else and windows vista is to much for her and a few million others, thanks

The high street shops will more than likely all be selling vista laptops now. some laptops are now shipping with xp and vista so you can choose which operating system you want.
try looking at whichlaptop.co.uk, i recently saw an advertisement in my local paper and this company were advertising dual boot (xp or vista) laptops.
