My laptop is nearly 2 years old & i have been having a few small issues recently. a couple of months ago it started overheating & shuts itself off when it does. i now have a cooler pad & it doesnt do it any more. about the same time the battery stopped charging & i have to use it off the power lead. it says that it is charging if i put the battery in, but stays on 11% charge & turns straight off if i disconnect the power lead. now today a single red line has appeared down the right hand side of the screen that seems to stay there no matter what. and the buttons on the touchpad dont work & havent since nearly new. i have done a scout on the internet & all of these seem to be common problems for the hp zd7000 & 8000. could i be using the fact that they are common problems to my advantage as there seems to be a consensus that the range is not fit for purpose? - there appears to be seveal class actions in the states? i only had the original waranty having spent all my money on the best (!) laptop i could & am still poor so cant afford a new one when this one should still be able to do the job perfectly!

If you are in the uk get your self a copy of computer active as they have a section in there where they help people with computer problems like the ones you are having and most retailers will quake in there boots when qa get on to them
