Does 160gb x 2 laptop hard drive mean i have 320gb disk space or 160gb disk space which will be backed up?
I am about to order dell laptop. why is
250gb hard drive more expensive that 160gb x 2 hard drive?
Answer
160gb x 2 means you have two seperate 160gb drives. they will certainly be able to be set up as independent drives and depending on the bios and os you use you may be able to configure them as a raid 0 (gives you one fast 320gb drive but data loss risk is relatively high) or raid 1 (mirrored so you only get 160gb but your risk of data loss is far lower).the pricing does seem a bit weired, maybe dell is trying to clear out excess stock of 160gb drives. the price of build to order options are generally a ripoff anyway in my experiance and you are often better off buying the base configuration and upgrading it yourself.
