Can u jumpstart a positive earth car with 2 6 volt batteries from a 12volt negative earth car?
I have a 1965 mgb with 2 6 volt batteries which i would like to jump off a portable jump start device when i tried today the batteries started smoking

If you look at the batteries, you will find that the positive terminal of one of them is connected to earth. the negative from this battery will be connected to the positive on the other battery.connect the red lead to the earthed (positive) terminal on the first battery, and the black lead to the negative of the second battery - this is the terminal which supplies power to the car.
