Connecting tv to laptop to record?
I have
read similar questions on here but i wanted to be a bit more specific.
im off to uni next month and will be buying a tv. but to avoid getting a dvd player or vhs i was wondering if i could turn to my laptop to do both of them jobs. i have
an s-video socket on my laptop (i believe its an s-video out one).
so is it possible for me to do this? my laptop would kinda be like a dvd player-cum-sky+ box type thing. oh and i have
a freeview box so would i be able to record off of that too? what software and hardware am i going to need?
cheers!
Answer
Hi
if your laptop has a dvd drive then tahat not a problem but connecting a normal set top box might be a problem. it is
likely that it would be cheaper to get one of the pen drive style set top boxes for the laptop and you get the recording software free.i have the made by peak and provided the signal is strong it works fine and records to the hard drive in several settings [sp/ep/lp]no direct to disc but some more expensive ones do.mine was around £18 at nemax [ local firm ]
good luck with the exams
