Seagate laptop hard drive connected wrong? help?
Hi, i have
put my laptop 2.5 hd into my desktop pc to transfer data. i borrowed a ide reducer to plug the drive in. i never checked the polariy of + and - on the 2 power pins,
assumed it was set up correctly. but no, they were the wrong way round. drive is now dead and a nice
little burning smell.
the question is. can i buy another identical seagate momentus drive, remove the 5 small pins holding the circuit board underside and install this into the damage drive. or will there be soldering involved?
thanks, wayne
Answer
Im afraid i dont know the answer to your question, but if you need the data off the drive to put on a new one, i think you can get this done reasonably cheap if you look and ask around a bit for data recoextremely
. some people will charge far too much money to get it done however, so look out!
sorry i cant be of more help!
hope you get it sorted! =)
