I have a large area of new decking and need to know whether to use cuprinol spray stain preserver or the ronseal type with a pad on a stick. it would take far long with a brush though a brush might be the answer to the spindles on the balustrade around it. do i spray or brush the spindles and handrail? i have never done anything like this before. thank you all so far.

Spray the spindles and balustrade but i would advise the pads for the deck surface. you stated it was a new deck. the first coat of sealer is important. a brush or pad pushes the sealer into the boards. the walking surface takes a lot more wear and tear than the rails.
