Will pc2700 266mhz memory work in a laptop that uses pc2100 memory as standard?

The correct memory for my laptop is pc2100 266mhz ddr cl2 200 pin sodimm. will i be able to use pc2700 266mhz 200 pin memory as an upgrade. i will be replacing the memory in it for two banks of 512mb. thanks anyone?
