What does a nice cheap laptop cost, and what are the best brands?
I wanna get a laptop for writing up my novels when on the go, like on the trains etc, cos i travel a lot, and at work. but i dont know much about laptops, having only own a home computer. i dont want the laptop for hardcore games like dawn of war etc, thats all on my pc, i just want a good thing that can do the average stuff.oh, and im english and dont understand dollar prices much, so could you put £ values instead ?

If you only want to word process then go for the lowest spec which will run properly. try to get one with xp as vista needs a lot of ram. avoid dell in uk as not nice value at moment. also avoid cheap makes found in lidl etc as they have lower quality components. just make sure the spec is ok as laptop upgrades are generally expensive to be worth it. most have got them now but make sure it is got a wireless card.
