Building regulations for loft conversions ?
My neighbour started to build a big loft conversion with 3 large windows that overlook my garden and my bedroom. when i checked with the council (also my next door neighbours as they are also affected by this) they said that they did not received a planning application from them. after a month and when the building is done and the roof up, we received today the letter from the council informing about the application for the development. my question is what are the regulations regarding loft conversions, do we stand any chance to complaint about it considering that he started work before even having plans approved from the council ? any answers would be much appreciated
Answer
As far as i know the planning application has to be posted outside their house so any interested parties can object in writing to the planning office. i would write to the planning office setting out your objections. the first objection would be the fact you were not informed of the builing then go on to the invasion of privacy etc. be quick and send the letter recorded delivery.
