My son has adhd ,dyslexia,ocd oppositional conduct disorder ,odd oppositional defiance disorder,chronic ticks,and learning difficulties he started high school after the summer holidays for 4 weeks and was then excluded he has not been back at school since as his pediatrician signed him off with accute stress and we have been home teaching him since we have had many meetings with the school asking for him to go into dse department of special education but the educational psychologist has been making things difficult now he has said that our son can access dse at this school but our son has lost all confidence at this school and so have we so we visited another dse where we and our son felt comfortable and the staff are willing for our son to attend their department but the local school and the educational psychologist are putting up barriers saying they feel he would be better in his local dse with his peer group can we get a placing request elsewhere can we overrule them somehow

The only way he can get special services for learning is if he is in a public school. otherwise, they think you are providing better for him in a one on one setting in the home than they could even in a small group setting in a public school. your pediatrician should be able to make the necessary referrals for you though.
